Advanced Practice Nurse

The Advanced Practice Nurse Award recognizes a nurse in an advanced role who has contributed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing care. Candidates who have a graduate degree in nursing and demonstrate expertise in assessing health needs, developing diagnoses, planning, implementing, and managing client’s care, and evaluating outcomes of care would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Case Manager

The Case Manager Award recognizes a nurse who has actively engaged in the advancement of the case manager’s role within the rehabilitation field. Candidates who demonstrate the implementation of trans-disciplinary coordination and cooperation, serve (by participating) as mentors to new case managers, and exhibit professional organizational involvement would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Educator

The Educator Award recognizes a nurse who has contributed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing care through an academic or educational role. Candidates who demonstrate leadership ability and effectiveness in the educational development and mentoring of rehabilitation nurses or students and support the advancement of rehabilitation nurses through continuing or formal education would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Nurse Executive

The Nurse Executive Award recognizes a rehabilitation nurse who has contributed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing care in a high-level administration role. Candidates who demonstrate leadership ability, innovation, and effectiveness in administration, support educational development of their staff, successfully represent rehabilitation nursing views, serve as mentors for new and potential nurse executives, and exhibit professional organizational involvement would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager Award recognizes a nurse who has contributed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing care in a middle management position. Candidates who demonstrate strong clinical, leadership, and management skills, good interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, a high level of initiative and creative problem-solving ability, and serve as mentors for new and potential nurse managers would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Masters Prepared Researcher

The Masters Prepared Researcher Award recognizes a rehabilitation nurse who is committed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing through research. Candidates who actively participate in research, serve as mentors for new and potential researchers, or support research in the field through active involvement in professional organizations committed to this end (e.g., active member of Sigma Theta Tau) would be appropriate nominees for this award.

Doctorate Prepared Researcher

The Doctorate Prepared Researcher Award recognizes a rehabilitation nurse who is committed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing through research. Candidates who actively participate in research, serve as mentors for new and potential researchers, or support research in the field through active involvement in professional organizations committed to this end (e.g., served on RNF Research Fund Committee, active member of Sigma Theta Tau) would be appropriate nominees for this award.
